BLACKTHORN RID

Obituaries-Horses
Mr Horsfall reports that his RID stallion, Blackthorn, has passed away aged 19 years. The news is devastating to his owner and everyone who knew him.

By Kilnashogue out of Sea Jays Lady, Blackthorn was one of only two direct male line RID descendants of Uibh Fhaili in the UK.  Now, with the export of Fintan Himself to Ireland, there are none. Three quarters of his pedigree comprised outcross lines; the remaining quarter being the phenomenally successful King of Diamonds show jumping line.  He was also one of the very few black RID stallions.

Blackthorn passed away quietly in his box, from a heart attack. He will be remembered by many who admired him when he was ridden at the Annual Breed Show at Lincoln, and by those who used him on their mares. He left a lasting legacy and some good stock on the ground, including six RID mares and an AID mare.

Sadly, his death comes all too soon after Mrs Horsfall's untimely passing. Our deepest sympathy goes to Mr Horsfall and his family.
Mr Horsfall is seeking another RID stallion to stand this season. Please would anyone who can help him contact:

Testimonials

I am writing to let you know that my horse has now been sold from your website. Whilst I advertised her on one other website, and in the Western Daily Press and was inundated with calls, I actually made the sale off the IDHS website and found the best possible home for my horse. I hope that she has a long and happy life in her new home, and that the new owners love and enjoy her.
I would like to thank you for your help, quick, efficient and friendly service. I would definitely recommend anyone to sell their horse through the breed society website.
Many thanks and regards
Nicola Marshall
