It has been found that virus and malware writers are beginning to exploit a vulnerability in Adobe Reader to embed executable files (viruses, etc) in PDF files. ALL our download files are 'virus-free' .... to avoid the risk of downloading a malicious file from elsewhere, it is suggested that you do the following............

'Downloads' have been re-categorised .... note that you will need to click on the 'sub-folder' that you require. Clicking on the main folder (when the files are in sub-folders) will return 'Files not found'.

Some people may have had difficulty getting onto the website earlier today - and possibly seen a variety of error messages. There was an 'issue' with our server, which has now been fully resolved. Aplogies for any inconvenience caused. Dave, Webmaster

If you have installed Internet Explorer 8, it may mess with the menu - it may look untidy, but should still work OK. To rectify this, click on 'Page', then click on 'Compatibility View Settings'. Add the website to the compatibility list - the page will refresh and should now be OK.
I've had a couple of reports from people
....... who, using Internet Explorer, as soon as they come on the website, the
page opens then Internet Explorer closes down !!!!
Without more details of the 'actual' pc configuration I cannot resolve this ......
however, as far as I can figure it, (and what I've read online), this appears,
on a few pc's, to be caused by a recent 'Windows update', so may get
resolved eventually. In the meantime, the only thing I can suggest is to
download and use the excellent
Firefox
browser.
Of course, for people this is happening to,
they probably cannot even get to see this !!;-))
But if you know anyone that is experiencing it, then please pass this on. Dave

It seems like this problem effects Internet Explorer 6 (and previous versions),
so updating to IE7 may solve it -

Beware !!
I have just been advised about keyloggers, and other trojans, that are being
'silently' installed on people's PC's, from legitimate websites ................
purely by visiting websites such as YouTube, FaceBook, etc; and many
others..................... sites that you would totally not suspect. This
scenario could effect 'idhsgb.com' ............ if the morons that do it decide
to 'pick' on us !!!
Don't think that you have nothing on you PC of value ............. even if
you haven't, if nothing else, it will be used as 'zombie' to forward spam
e-mails. And the bottom line is ........... do you want someone recording
everything you are are doing on YOUR PC ???
Be pro-active about this, make sure that your operating system is
fully up to date, you are using anti-spyware, anti-malware, and a firewall.
On top of these, the following programs will 'flag' in the search engines if
anything is suspicious. Both of these solutions work in a similar way, and both
are FREE .......... so there is no excuse not to install them !!!

Welcome.
A new website, and a new web address.....www.idhsgb.com
..... including e-mail addresses. www.irishdraughthorsesociety.com
will still work, and any e-mail addresses you have saved as anything(no
spam)@irishdraughthorsesociety.com will still reach us. Alternatively,
you can now use anything(no spam)@idhsgb.com
When typing this in, remember to remove the (no spam).
Content Management Systems or CMS’s are becoming very popular these days.
Many people just do not have the time to write code all day when they want to
add new content to their site. Many hobbyists want to design a site that also
allows others to participate in or help the webmaster.
I don't know how effective this service is - but one and a half million
users can't all be wrong !!!! For any of you running your own website or blog,
it is worth considering..............and only takes a couple of minutes to
implement.
WWW Robots (also called wanderers, spiders, crawlers, or bots) are programs
that crawl the Web continually retrieving linked pages. When a spammer's bot
visits your website, blog, forum, etc, all pages and sites linked to it will be
searched looking for email addresses.
Now you can fight back against their robots!
All you have to do is link to
Spam
Poison so that whenever a spammer's robot scans your page, it will be sucked
into this one.
These links will redirect email harvesting bots to trap sites that will feed
it with an almost infinite loop of dynamically generated fake email addresses,
mostly on known spammer owned domains! This will render their harvested lists
practically useless and of no commercial value
"Foil the spam robots crawling your blog for
email addresses with SpamPoison." The icing on your electronic cake. The

The 'catch-all' email address for the Society
is 'postmaster@'. All incorrectly addressed emails are received at this address,
which as the Webmaster, comes to me. However, this is a spammers dream -as
everything such as 'abc@', bcd@' also arrive here.
I am currently receiving approximately 1700 emails daily on this
address !!!!

"The Internet is like the Wild
West..........without the sheriff !!! "
Some of you may not realize why there is a
requirement to register on the website.......so a short explanation may be
justified.
Unfortunately, all websites that provide forums, guestbooks, comments - in fact,
any kind of interaction - are inundated with spam, and anyone posting an e-mail
address on a website nowadays also runs this risk. By registering, hopefully
WE and YOU will not receive so much spam, and YOU will not have to expose your e-mail address. (People can still e-mail you from the 'Site Members' list.)
When registering, the verification form
requires you to enter an 'image code' to verify that a 'human' is completing the
form. I have had, on rare occasions some reports, that some PC or ISP
configurations do not display this. If this happens, please e-mail the
webmaster, with your name, and e-mail address. A password will be sent to you,
which you will be able to change on the 'My Account' page.
The new IDHS(GB) website truly moves into the 21st century, providing a website that provides information on the Irish Draught Horse, and is also interactive for the Society, and website, users. A valuable resource of information on the Irish Draught Horse for everyone, in addition we now provide specific services for website members.
You do NOT have to be a member of the society to register on the website.
For more information on the facilities that this website can provide for you, either PM (private message), or e-mail the Webmaster.
