Welcome to Irish Draught Horse Society (GB)
Wednesday, March 10 2010 @ 12:11 AM GMT Colt Inspections 2010The Irish Draught
Horse Society (GB) 2010 Colt Inspections T he 2010 Colt Inspections were held at the Warwickshire College in Moreton Morrell on Thursday, 18 February. It was a very successful day, with six colts and stallions from a range of types and bloodlines passed onto RID at Grade 1 (which means that they passed both inspection and vetting) and two new sport horses passed onto Grade 1 of the Irish Draught Sport Horse Register. As usual, it was a bitterly cold day, and as you can see from Bryan’s photographs, it snowed heavily on us for the entire afternoon. The first horse to pass was
the hunting-fit grey seven year old Tullys Court, bred in Ireland by Dr
Charlotte Moore. A mature stallion standing 17.1hh, Tullys Court is by Crosstown
Dancer, who is descended from the highly successful King of Diamonds/Milestone
lines, but with the equally valuable outcross Skylark line behind his dam, Tara
Sky. Tullys Court’s dam, Tullys Lass, is by Western Light, again tracing back to
Milestone, but her bloodlines also go back to The Dove II and to Blue Peter.
Messrs. O and A Webster’s
Classic Scot is another Irish-bred horse, this time bred by Mr T. Langton. A
striking chestnut by the show jumper Classic Vision out of Star Sheer by Golden
Warrior, he too traces back to King of Diamonds on his sire’s side. He is also
line-bred to another highly successful show jumping line, Laughton, through both
sire and dam.

class, he was purchased privately by Caryl and Helena Davies.

is a four year old 16.1hh grey horse by the Irish stallion Merry Mate out of
Coilldarach De Deon by Agherlow.

Woodland Dene, Littleton Appledark Thumbs Up RID is a 16.1hh four year old by the hugely successful show jumper Rebelara, out of Bramhope First Light by Western Sun. Bred in North Yorkshire by Mrs N. Grubb, he is owned by Mr K and Mrs D Godber, and he will stand in Derbyshire. It is particularly moving that this young horse has been successful after Mr and Mrs Godber’s recent tragic loss of Cooloo Huntingfield at such a young age. Appledark Thumbs Up has four crosses of Milestone, and is also line-bred to Glenside. He also has some important rare lines in his pedigree such as Golden Wonder, Sir Henry II, Rusheen Hero and Tara. He has no King of Diamonds blood close up in his pedigree. This stallion achieved a coveted BLS Award, kindly donated by Mrs Pam Symonds on behalf of her late husband Bernard, as a British-bred Grade 1 RID stallion.

The inspectors were Mr Dennis Dullea from Ireland, Mrs Maggie Spreckley-Dollard and Mrs Ellen Walton. The referee was Mr John Brewster. The Chief Inspector, Mrs Mary Wilson, would like to thank everyone on behalf of the Society who brought a colt for inspection or show jumping assessment. The Society is also very
grateful to the two vets, our administrator and all the stewards, many of whom
had a very cold day. Bryan Bane took the photographs. Sue Tutcher and her
partner covered all the mirrors, Sam Roche helped in the jumping lane. Norma
Grubb headed the catering team, which provided excellent refreshments including
some hot soup, which was more than welcome. Sue Benson provided highly efficient
stable management and impromptu poop-scooping. Jackie and Ray Murray deserve
special thanks for working very hard to clean all the stables that needed it,
making them habitable for their usual occupants. Colt Inspections - Media Galleries
