IRISH DRAUGHTS IN DRESSAGE AWARDS 2009

The Irish Draughts in Dressage Awards are to continue in 2009, thanks to the ongoing generosity of Patricia Nuttall. Pictured below is Patricia’s latest acquisition, pure bred Irish Draught gelding, Darragh Classic Prince.
George, as he is known at home, was bred in Ireland by the Mcloughlin brothers and was spotted on the hunting field by Richard and Lesley Iggledon. They were sure he would stand up in a ridden hunter class and persuaded his then owners to let him come to them to try a season in Heavyweight Hunter classes. He entered 13 classes and won 11 of them.
He won the Irish Draught class at Dublin, was Heavyweight Hunter Champion and topped it all off by winning Supreme Show Hunter. As far as his producers are aware he is the first purebred ever to achieve this high accolade at the Dublin Show.
George is by Classic Vision out of Holycross Princess. Ginger Dick, Holycross, Lady Glen and Saggart's Millie all feature in his pedigree.

Patricia, herself a very keen supporter of the Irish Draught, hopes to continue with George’s great success in 2009 in both showing classes and dressage.

All horses with at least 50% Irish Draught blood competing affiliated dressage that qualify for the BD competitions as listed below, can register for inclusion for the awards.

All horses must be registered with the IDHS(GB). The prizes will be awarded to the highest placed ID bred horse in each of the following sections. If there is only one horse qualified in a section, providing they present themselves on the day and compete in that section, they will still be awarded the prize. There will only be one prize per level for the Regionals, the prize being awarded to the horse that achieves the highest percentage. A horse that has won an award in previous years cannot qualify again at the same level, but we welcome horses that qualify at a higher level.
