NOVICE WINNERS

Riding in torrential rain and achieving a very credible 62.069%, pure bred gelding Cloonacauneen Gold, with his owner Janet Hill, are our novice winners for 2008. Buddy, as he is known at home, is by Kildalton Gold RID out of Second Lady RID.
Buddy, who already has 100 dressage points, is very consistent and is rarely out of the top placings. In addition to moving up to Elementary level dressage he also show jumps and regularly hacks to the local beach, where he loves to have a splash in the sea.
Janet says Buddy is a pleasure to own and has a lovely temperament and real character. She cannot recommend the Irish Draught too highly with their talent in all disciplines.

Novice Runners Up
Novice runners up were Lesley Grant with Charlie Blue (alias Cheep to Keep) Charlie is a 16.3hh, handsome, black IDxTB gelding by RID Touch of the Blues out of Potent Polly. He is thirteen years old and only came to Lesley in April 2008, having previously competed at affiliated eventing, show jumping and dressage. Charlie has active, correct paces and a great attitude to his work.
His main job now is dressage and he qualified for the Novice Restricted Regional Championships at our second competition with 68.97%.
Lesley’s aim now is to gain a qualification for the Winter Regional’s at Elementary level.
Charlie is described as a gentle, affectionate horse who in his spare time is giving dressage lessons to Lesley’s eleven year old daughter, Emily, with the help of trainer Jane Rutherford

SILKEN PRINCE AND JACKIE GORDON
ELEMENTARY WINNERS

Elementary winners, Silken Prince (Jack) along with owner/rider Jackie Gordon, scored 64.37%. Jack is on the ID Sport Horse Register and is out of an RID mare by Enniskeane Prince RID. They are no newcomers to our dressage awards, having won at Novice level in 2006. This superb horse has had his showing career cut short due to an untreatable condition, which is turning his lovely bay colour into spots. However, dressage is the winner from this as Jack is proving extremely talented and he and Jackie have already qualified for the Winter Regionals at Medium level at their very first attempt.
Jackie says Jack is very trainable and very talented but still maintains that Irish Draught sense of humour. Not a day goes by that he does not make them laugh.
