Show Qualifiers Form

IRISH DRAUGHT IN HAND CLASSES

These Classes are affiliated to the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) and only horses registered with the IDHS (GB) in the correct ownership are eligible for entry.  All breeding and in hand exhibits must be already Graded* or eligible for Class 1 on the Irish Draught Breed Register OR registered on the Grade 1 Irish Draught Sport Horse Register.  Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form and entries will be sent to the IDHS (GB) prior to the Show to confirm eligibility.

*A Graded mare or filly is one that has been inspected by the IDHS (GB) and passed into one of the following categories: ID Class 1, ID Class 2, RID, AID or the Supplementary Grade Up Register.

Please note - From 2012, SID fillies, mares and geldings must be shown in Irish Draught Sport Horse Breeding classes.

WORDING FOR IRISH DRAUGHT BREEDING CLASSES

THE NEW SNOWFORD (GB) BREEDING CHAMPIONSHIP

All classes for Graded* Brood Mares with own foals at foot are Qualifiers for the New Snowford (GB) Breeding Championship (see wording below).

NFU MUTUAL IRISH DRAUGHT YOUNGSTOCK CHALLENGE

All Irish Draught PURE BRED Youngstock classes are Qualifiers for the NFU Mutual Irish Draught Youngstock Challenge (see wording below).  Some shows combine Irish Draught and Irish Draught Sport Horse Youngstock classes, but only the highest placed horses eligible for Irish Draught Class 1 on inspection are eligible to qualify from these classes.

WORDING FOR IRISH DRAUGHT MATURITY IN HAND CLASSES

(N.B:  The winners of these classes are eligible for the Irish Draught In Hand Breeding Championship.)
 

WORDING FOR NON BREEDING IRISH DRAUGHT MATURITY IN HAND CLASSES

(N.B:  Some shows hold Irish Draught In Hand classes in conjunction with Irish Draught Ridden Classes, but the winners of these classes are NOT eligible for the Irish Draught In Hand Breeding Championship.)

All competing STALLIONS must be graded with the IDHS (GB) as RID (GB), ID Class 1 or ID Class 2 OR Grade 1 Irish Draught Sport Horse and must display a red, white and blue ribbon in their tails.
 

IRISH DRAUGHT RIDDEN CLASSES

These Classes are affiliated to the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) and only horses registered with the IDHS (GB) in the correct ownership are eligible for entry.  All exhibits must be registered on either the Irish Draught Registers OR Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers.  Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form and entries will be sent to the IDHS (GB) prior to the Show to confirm eligibility.

All competing STALLIONS must be graded with the IDHS (GB) as RID (GB), ID Class 1 or ID Class 2 OR Grade 1 Irish Draught Sport Horse and must display a red, white and blue ribbon in their tails.

All ridden horses must be 153cm (15hh) or over.

BLUE CHIP & IDHS (GB) £2,000 CHALLENGE

All Irish Draught Ridden Classes, both Irish Draught and Irish Draught Sport Horse, are Qualifiers for the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge (see wording below), EXCEPT Irish Draught Performance Horse and Irish Draught Working Hunter Classes.  Where two classes are combined (Irish Draught and ID Sport Horse), two qualifiers will be selected, one from each category.

Rules for Irish Draught Performance Horse Classes:

Phase 1: Paces - Competitors enter the ring individually and give a short ridden display of walk, trot and canter lasting approximately 1 minute for which up to 30 points can be awarded.  The competitors then proceed directly into the jumping phase.  Phase 1 points: walk = 10, trot = 10, canter = 10, maximum points available = 30

Phase 2: Jumping - Competitors to then proceed over a course of mainly natural fences.  This may include, at the organiser’s discretion, some fences of coloured or white poles and a water tray/ditch etc.  There should be a minimum of 6 fences and a maximum of 10 fences to include at least one change of direction and one double.  If sufficient entries are received we recommend the class be split, if not and only one class is held, 4 - 6 year olds will jump first, the fences will then be raised for the 7 year olds and over.  Each jumping effort is marked out of 10.  There is no set penalty for a pole down or a run out, but three refusals result in elimination, as does a fall of horse and rider.  Up to 20 points are available for the overall impression of the round.  Phase 2 points: maximum available, number of fences x 10 points, overall impression of round = 20 points.

Phase 3: Conformation - All horses, unless eliminated, are required for the conformation in hand assessment.  Phase 3 points: maximum available points for soundness and conformation = 50 points.
 

In the event of a tie, the horse with the highest jumping score will gain ascendancy.

Any rider can present up to three horses in a class.

Irish Draught Working Hunter Classes

Run under SHB (GB) rules except for fence height and novice horse qualification.

Rules for Irish Draught Working Hunter Classes:

These classes are open to any Irish Draught stallion (see above), mare or gelding except Grade A Show Jumpers and Grade 1 Eventers.  Riders may enter up to two horses per class, but must select only one to go forward to the ride and conformation section if so required.  No change of rider is allowed.  To be judged: 60% for Jumping Performance (40% for actual jumping and 20% for style and presence), 40% as for Hunter Classes (20% for ride, 20% for conformation).  There will be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 natural type fences with possibly some white poles.  Penalties:- 1st refusal = 15, 2nd = 20, 3rd = elimination;  any knockdown = 10;  fall horse/rider = elimination.

WORDING FOR QUALIFIERS

The Finals of the following Championships will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 22nd - 23rd September 2012 at Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre, Willoughby, Rugby, Warwickshire CV23 8AJ.  Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at: www.idhsgb.com/qualified/ (Here) to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final.  Following submission of the online form, a qualifier’s pack will be sent out direct to the qualifier.

THE NEW SNOWFORD (GB) BREEDING CHAMPIONSHIP

To qualify, the two highest placed mares must be owned by IDHS (GB) members who are domiciled in Great Britain and be Graded* mares, registered or overstamped by the IDHS (GB), with their own foals at foot that were born in Great Britain and are by an RID (GB), ID Class 1 or ID Class 2 sire that is registered or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) and standing in Great Britain at the time of covering.  If one or both have already qualified, the mare(s) next in line will go forward to the Final.  Each qualifier will receive a card.  In the Final, the mare and her foal will be judged as a pair.  The awards are:- Champion: the New Snowford (GB) Breeding Trophy, a sash, a rosette and £100; Reserve Champion: a sash, a rosette and £50; places 3rd to 7th: a rosette and £20.  All prize winners will receive a Crystal Trophy.  All other finalists will receive a rosette.

NFU MUTUAL IRISH DRAUGHT YOUNGSTOCK CHALLENGE

The two highest placed PURE BREDS from each age group, yearling (filly, colt or gelding), 2 year old (filly, colt or gelding) and 3 year old (filly or gelding) eligible for Class 1 of the Irish Draught Breed Register by an RID (GB), ID Class 1 or ID Class 2 sire out of a Graded* dam and also 2 and 3 year old fillies already Graded* or, if one or both have already qualified, the horse next in line in each age group will qualify to go forward to the Final.  Each qualifier will receive a card.  In the Final, there will be three classes each with prize money to the value of £150.  The two highest placed semi-finalists from each class will go forward to the Championship where the Champion will receive £150 and the Reserve Champion £100.

BLUE CHIP & IDHS (GB) £2,000 CHALLENGE

The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each Class will qualify for the Final.  N.B: A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of type or number of classes won, placed in or entered.  Each qualifier will receive a card and a £10 voucher from Blue Chip.  In the Final, the Champion will be awarded £1,000 prize money, a Trophy and a Blue Chip rug.  The Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each.  In addition, the highest placed Pure Bred Irish Draught will be awarded a Trophy and £100 and the highest placed 158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a Trophy and £50.

IN ADDITION TO IRISH DRAUGHT RIDDEN CLASSES

All hunter, cob and riding horse classes at Sport Horse Breeding (GB) and British Show Horse Association affiliated shows may be qualifiers for the BLUE CHIP & IDHS (GB) £2,000 CHALLENGE:

Qualifiers may be taken from the highest placed horses (with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding) competing in small, lightweight, middleweight or heavyweight ridden hunter classes, also ladies hunter, novice hunter, working hunter and novice working hunter classes at affiliated Sport Horse Breeding (GB) shows and in ridden cob, working cob, maxi cob and riding horse classes at affiliated British Show Horse Association shows.

The following wording will be included (details for the Final and instructions to Qualifiers are as above):

This show is a Qualifier for the Blue Chip & Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) £2,000 Challenge.

SPECIAL INCENTIVE CARDS MAY ALSO BE AWARDED TO IRISH DRAUGHT & IRISH DRAUGHT SPORT HORSES IN HUNTER, COB AND RIDING HORSE CLASSES AS FOLLOWS:

The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) awards Special Incentive Cards to the highest placed Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse in these classes (class numbers or sections to be given). To be eligible, exhibits must be registered with or overstamped by the IDHS (GB) on either their Irish Draught Breed Registers or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers.  Registration numbers to be stated on the entry form.
